The FETCH Story

FETCH began as an idea in September 2014 after owner, Allison Whitfield-Smith, saw a national news show segment about a food truck for dogs in New York City that was taking advantage of the new food truck craze around the country. After many years in the corporate world, Allison was looking for something different and fun to do with the next half of her life. Many people asked, “What makes you happy?"  A lifelong answer to that question had always been “dogs”. So began the journey to establish FETCH - A Treat Truck for Dogs in Birmingham, Alabama. What could be more fun than hanging out with dogs and other dog-lovers every day? Allison’s own dogs, LuLu and Lylah, have been very supportive in the new business venture and are always happy taste-testers for new products.

The FETCH truck is the first of its kind in Alabama. Look for the FETCH truck at local dog parks, festivals, farmers’ markets, and other pet-friendly events throughout the year in the Birmingham Metropolitan area. FETCH offers many flavors of lactose-free and yogurt-based ice creams as well as wholesome gourmet bakery goods and dog treats. You can even order a birthday cake for your dog and have it hand-delivered!

Grain-free and other allergen-free treats are offered and product ingredient lists will be available at the truck and also here on the website. Dog treats and baked goods from local pet treat bakers will also be offered whenever possible.

FETCH will be available for parties, events, fund-raisers and any kind of social activity where dogs are welcome and can enjoy a tasty treat.

Because Allison believes strongly in supporting the community and is very aware of Alabama’s homeless pet problem, a portion of FETCH’s proceeds will go to local animal shelters and rescue groups that are instrumental in finding loving homes for animals in need.
